ndYouandMeandYouandMeandYo (In A Heartbeat)

I think I've mentioned elsewhere that I'm a bit tired of working on my own. So....here's an idea I'm offering up for collab. This demo sounds very '80's to me - like something a big-hair ponce-rock outfit like Cutting Crew would have knocked out. "I Just Died On My Arse Tonight" was I think one of their biggies. Uugghh. We need to kill that off pretty sharpish...

The lyric is bollocks - it just articulates the vocal melody. The verse melody is hinted at by the little keyboard figure. Is the first bit a chorus? Or just a pretty hooky verse?? We need at least a middle eight, maybe a lot more. A total reimagining is not off the agenda.

I like it.
I'll give it a shot.

Fab. How do you want to play this? I'm keen not to tie your hands in terms of options - I'll give anything a go. Do you want to play around with some ideas in terms of where you'd want to take this and then maybe let me have a listen, and we'll go from there?

I can give you the stems via dropbox if that helps in terms of trying ideas out - but I will definitely want to re-record all of these parts for the "proper" version. For instance, the percussion is pretty bad and will need a complete rethink and the telecaster rhythm parts are just a sketch/note and consequently are all over the place.

I'm not precious about vocals etc btw - whatever sounds best is what we'll go with. Be cool to have some mix options for the final track using different vocals, guitar tracks etc etc

Oh and if anyone else fancies a go at this - maybe next time. I think in collab terms two's company and three's definitely a crowd....

Yeah, I've already hacked apart the mp3 and sort of juggled things around and added/subtracted stuff, just to get an idea of structure. I'll play around with it for a bit and send you the rough idea and you can tell me what works or sucks and we can go from there I guess.
It will likely be a weird stitched-together Frankensong with me singing strange non-words instead of lyrics, just to prepare you.

I do that too when I'm trying to get a vocal melody - more often than not the lyric is an attempt to make some kind of sense of the nonsense rather than a complete rewrite.
