Topsy

I had this riff knocking around for a while and I decided to do what I sometimes do, which is just slather overdubs on it, and different changes, and let it go wherever the hell it wants to. That's what happened here, only things got a little out of hand. Like Topsy, it just growed. It made me smile, so I thought I'd post it. Rough as a badger's arse, but it has a certain loony charm. Parts of it will probably turn into a song eventually, but this version is it's own thing...

I started out trying to emulate David Axelrod's HOLY THURSDAY with the feel of Roy Budd's theme from GET CARTER, but it ended up sounding like a mutant TV theme or something.

I love the way the ensemble comes in after the first chorus, and then the total sandbagging entry of the horns for no reason at all.

There's a bunch of junk at the end you can ignore.
