It Gets Better

A long time and a bit ago, there was an It Gets Better challenge, and the late lamented Major Dundee posted this in response, along with instruction to ride it hard and put it away wet. So that's what I did.

I spent WAY too long on this and really ran up against my own vocal limitations. I actually kind of think it should be done like a charity single with each singer taking a line or too. I was thinking of lining up some of my local celebs to see if they'd take a shot at it, or do the mefi version.

(NB I did email the Major's reincarnation inviting a collab but we got our wires a bit crossed and I finished it just as he got back to me -- sorry about that, Hoops, but you're welcome to have a hack at it if you're so inclined!)

YES why not do a mefi collaborative version? I'd contribute a line :)

You could also try and get a trumpet-playing mefite to play that part live!

Way to go unSane, way to go! This is utterly charming. It's not quite the same chorus that I wrote - but that doesn't matter. And I think the fact that, as you acknowledge, it's kind of testing your vocal powers only adds to the charm of it. Because this song is really about not being fucking perfect - it's about being the opposite, it's about being a farty human with vulnerabilities and frailties (like the majority of us). Great stuff!

This has a really 'up' vibe, in a cool vintage sort of way. Love the horn sounds! And, I didn't hear the original before, so this gave me a chance to catch the Major's musical spark of a post too. And learn he is now Hoops. A lot happens when I go away for a while...
