Brother Casanova

New Years. Listlessness and Watching Your Life Go Bye. But there is Love and Hope nestled deep in in the chorus.

I......I don't know what to say about this song. It's more personal than anything I've shared here, so please be delicate, but always honest. I wrote and recorded everything this week, mixing late at night with the dogs snoring on my studio couch, christmas lights up and thoughts of a new me in a new year.

All I ask is 4 minutes of your time, preferably through nice speakers/headphones, it's pretty sonic and, as usual, theres a lot of stuff going on.

Hope everyone has a lovely holiday and new year....

M

p.s. the lyrics:

One more year
To waste away
Watch days roll on
On and on
Roll away

No summer song
Those Months are gone
Watch days roll on
Gone gone gone
Roll along

No springtime fall
No siren call
(I'm livin in)

Your life
Our life
Don't wait til the first of the year
Your love
My love
Don't wait til the first of the year

Don't let your whole life
Pass you over

Ain't got no gray skies, Casting over
Don't be no Brother Cassanova

:-(

Lovely. It has the pointillistic energy of James Brown's band, the sense that a lot of power is being kept under tight control. The guitar solo might be punchier with a little more treble, at least at the start. You got some skillz. May your holidays be a a pleasant as your music.

You've got a really well-balanced midpoint between groove and tasteful restraint. Just enough voices and counterpoint in the various parts. Reflective, retrospective. Harmonies mellow and thoughtful. Definitely taste the lightness of troubles left behind, and taking the reins of your destiny.

Lovely guitar sound, both electric and acoustic. Your vocals are beautifully mixed too, a real Peter Gabriel vibe!

Stellar all around, but the lead guitar playing is particularly out of control. Big JJ Cale vibes - hard not to get down with.
