Leaden Resolve

Mournful sludge/doom/noise rock. This is the first heavy tune I've composed in quite a few years, and I suppose it's my attempt to rationalize the current state of world affairs through a Neurosis-esque filter.

This is generally not my genre but I really love this. Thank you.

I like this. It starts out with a heavy David Gilmour vibe, and then it reminds me of Codeine or Slint, as filtered through that first wave of doomy/sludgey/mathy metal of the early 90's. Like if the Melvins were a more subtly poppy band.

Thanks for the kind comments! I've never been all that comfortable writing my own stuff; I started out writing overly complicated and not-especially-listenable death metal, then spent a few years playing bass in a layered pop band. I've been listening to a lot of stuff with space, like Kowloon Walled City, Low, and 40 Watt Sun, and I guess all of that stuff is coming through my filter now.

I made a mastered version using LANDR. Gets the volumes up to standard; came out pretty good for an automated mastering service.

Soundcloud, on the other hand, is mangling the resolution of my tracks for whatever reason. Was it always this bad, or is there some setting I'm missing?
