Milada In A Ditch

January 15, 2021 11:01 PM

A few summers ago my mom's friend had a bit of an incident on the winding road to my parents' place and spun her car out, into the ditch. My brother happened upon her and helped her get her car out and told me about it later. I totally wasn't there but I wrote a song about it anyway and invented things that didn't happen.

I played some Martin acoustic guitar and a bit of a melodica horn and did some sloppy lap steel and drums and
asked my pal Dave of the Golden Seals to play bass on the track, which he did marvellously and then offered to mix it so fuck yes I agreed.

Thanks! Lyrics:

Milada in a ditch
she and her car are fine
despite a nasty scare

Milada in a ditch
'cause she could not consider which direction roads can take
when you're not feeling there

she honks at every hill she climbs
she's done this trip a million times
and never thought the car could miss that turn
well maybe now she'll learn

her car rotating toward the trees
a hundred eighty-four degrees

an errant tire turned in the air
when David found her sitting there
he helped her get her car back on the road
no need to get it towed

Milada in a ditch
she only meant to take
a quick trip into town

Milada in a ditch
and it's a shame she didn't switch the route
that made her car completely spin around

Thanks for the lyrics. I had most of it but there were a few words I wasn't hearing properly. Now it all makes sense :)
Great little song!

This is wonderful, as always. Really pleasing to listen to. I love the vibe of the lap steel, too.
