Dishonest Used Car Salesman

Another dumb song from the dumb-songs album demos. This one's ... let's call it early-2000s emo?

This made me laugh and is actually pretty great which is a nice treat for a comedy song

Also, and I meant to add this last night and got distracted, I’m delighted you’re posting, your stuff is always such top qual.

Ha! Really great sound, beautifully recorded/mixed and love the lyric! Melodically and sonically (and vocally) it does remind me of the sound of a lot of US pop/rock bands of a certain era. It's not a genre I'm overly familiar with, but it's the sort of band that recorded the Friends theme? Oddly enough I recorded a track a few years back about a dodgy used car salesman. It's called Cuban Heels. I'll post it shortly.

If this is dumb, then I don't wanna be smart!

It's so good on three fronts: songwriting, wit, and production. I really wish I could get the recorded and mixed sounds that you get.

Thanks everyone. And umbú, I've been going hard on my mixes lately. I miss sometimes -- the vocals here are oversaturated and brittle in the high-mids, for sure -- but I've been working hard on figuring out the larger-than-life modern rock sound. I'm not there yet, but I'm figuring out bits and pieces and putting them together.

My guitar sound is 100% Kemper at this point, which is one of the best extravagant purchases I've ever made. I've never played through an amp simulator that plays and mixes like a real amp before, but the Kemper is astounding. I used it to profile my little Marshall amp, and you absolutely could not tell the difference between a mic in front of the amp and the Kemper, which is great because I can track guitar any time of day or night, silently, without compromising.

Now I just need the same thing for vocals ... :)

Very much a Fountains of Wayne feel to this.
