The Locked Room

An eight-minute instrumental piece. I made a video for it using public domain film from archive.org and put the song in the public domain (non-commercial use with attribution).

Much of the video was taken from the 1945 film noir Detour which you can watch in its entirety on archive, org. I was thinking a lot about the percussion as I wrote this and really like how that turned out in Wil Cameron's capable hands. And it would not sound complete without Jay Worley's improvised sax part. In true COVID project style, Jay and Wil recorded remotely.

I used the Ubuntu Studio freeware OpenShot, Ardour, and Audacity on this project.

That was fantastic! The sax was cool, and the winds were good throughout, really.

this is cool! and just because I would want someone to tell me if this had happened to me, I think there's a typo in your title screen? (conumdrum). that's just my quality control gene kicking in strong, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this piece!

Thanks for checking out the video and for the title correction, gorbichov. I'm not sure how I missed that typo (can I blame the font?) I added the word "conundrum" at the last minute to avoid conflicting with other things with the same title.
