You Spin Me Round

A remake of the same song by Dead or Alive, only much better!
Disclaimer: I was the producer of the album this is off of, not a performer. (MI)

When I first saw this I thought "Not another cover of this damn song," but I take it all back. This is really good. The vocals are fantastic.

Agreed, this is superb. (One of my favorite goin'-out-dancin' experiences involved this song.)
P.S. Can you get this duo to make us a "Walking on Sunshine"? I've always wanted that song to have this sort of treatment.</halfserious>

Great track! I'm surprised by how well this rather simple and completely disco song translated over. It's actually somewhat haunting. I want more from these two. Thanks.

dhartung, They prob won't do "Walking On Sunshine" for this space, but I will suggest it to them and if by some chance it gets recorded I'll let you know. Jerree does a few other great covers with another local minor celeb that haven't been recorded, including a Moldy Peaches song as well as "I'm Sticking with You" by the Velvet Underground.

I agree with much of what has already been said. This is excellent. Quite possibly even better than the original song. Well done!

You may know this boo_radley, but Low is another Duluth local band. The male vocal on this song (Scott Lunt) was the subject of a song by Low (the song is Starfire on their Secret Name album). So, I'm sure there is some influence there somewhere.
I actually almost had Low on this album, but the main fellow, Sparhawk is one of the busier people I've known, so it didn't work out.

I got spun right round listening to this record! Ha!
N0 srsly, this was wawwwsome. Thanks for being the middle-man and bringing us this charming, pared-down cover of an old classic, tearing down the boundaries between the much-maligned genre of disco and the realms of credibility, helping us hear for the first time the beauty that overwrought production values of the nineteen-eighties once obfuscated; a track that is certainly bound to earn its place as a mainstay in users' playlists for months to come, at least until Scarlett Johnannsen releases her cover of Tom Waits songs this coming spring.

If the other covers on this album are half as different from the originals and a quarter as awesome as this one, I'd definitely buy a copy of it.
Thanks for posting this song.

4 years later, I just wanted to chime in with how much I still love this song. Every now and then the mood strikes me, like this quiet morning, and I come back and give it a spin. round, round, round.

The album turned out pretty good, but as a fundraiser it bombed, so now I have a few hundred of these hanging ‘round (hint). With encouragement I may post other tracks.
