Good Moon - Bad Habit
The 2nd track on my latest album (also posted over at Projects.) A pandemic project, of all original music by myself & my partner, Molly Doris-Pierce. This one is a bit of a favorite of mine. Vocals, guitar, organ, bass guitar, drums.
The Long Cool
I was working on songs for my Microvague project and really just wanted to make something to use the phrase "Long Cool", so this is what came out of it...
Rag Doll
Well, here's a rock song I made. I'm not good at descriptions. The rest of the ep is various places as 'Microvague'. [more inside]
Trust
I've tried a couple different things with this progression, finally found something I can live with. Rock guitar, drum machine, and all that jazz. [more inside]
wc
My version of a popular holiday favorite. [more inside]
River Town
The themes of timelessness vs. something purely of the moment and also of mobility vs. immobility are somehow factored into the folds of this dreamy folkrock-inspired track by Ummagma. Whispy and somewhat ethereal. [more inside]
Back to You
Somewhat reminiscent of Sonic Youth's cover of the Carpenters' "Superstar", this song still seems to have a unique quality all of its own. When we recorded this Ummagma track, we didn't know about that cover but since then, this has been the feedback received and we also feel a similarity there too. What do you think? I'm also posting the lyrics here. [more inside]
Risky
It's funny how sometimes it takes all but a few minutes to write a song, while the development of another song can really stretch out. This was one of those stretches - "Risky" was a song that was written "in chunks" - the basic instrumental bit was written in Kyiv, Ukraine before a big move to western Ukraine and then to Canada, where the rest was written & recorded before finally being dragged back to Ukraine, where it was properly mixed and mastered. The time span from start to finish: 5 years. All that moving around was us, by the way, not just the tracks bouncing around in cyber space. Thus is the history of this track. I'm posting the lyrics too if anyone wants to have a go at them or "sing along" …. yeah, right… any feedback is welcome. Peace. [more inside]
99 Percent
A punk rock song by my new band Riot Dog, in support of the 99 Percent throughout the nation - the employed and the unemployed, those taking to the streets and those just struggling to get by day to day. Video here.
Pulling Teeth
Another song in the 'I'm trying my hand at writing and recording rock music single-handedly in my bedroom' project. Looking for criticism, suggestions, tips, etc. - on mixing especially. [more inside]
Full Science
A rock ode to the bat that clung to the Space Shuttle Discovery. Thoughts? [more inside]
if the beating of our hearts outpace the ticking of the clock we'll be okay
this is the second song i've written in 10 years, and the first good one.
Fake It
Kind of a loud rock song. First single off my next album.
Out of It (singalong demo)
This is the title track for my next album and I need some backup vocals! [more inside]
Chivalry
The second recording of my first visit to my school's media center. It's a song idea that I've been toying with for a long, long time. It's in 7/4... if you like that sort of thing.

Regicide Solution
Here's an unfortunately prescient political power-pop tune I penned in '02, as recorded by Detroit's own rock foursome LISBOA at our (then) modest home studio in our first collective foray into DIY recording. RIFYL: The New Pornographers and dudes/lady-dudes in that vein. Honky tonk piano (emphasis on the "honky"), a Hammond, some e-Bow, a little vibraphone, and a few too many "nah-nah-nah-nahs," but whaddya gonna do, right? Hope you dig it, friends.
Flat Fix
This is a tune from a 1995 release called "Samm Bennett's History of the Last Five Minutes", from the Knitting Factory label. The CD is currently out of print. The guitarist is Hahn Rowe, everything else is me. I've been thinking about re-releasing this and possibly my earlier KF CDs on my own label (Yay! Rights have reverted back to yours truly!) but I've got a bunch of new songs I wanna release first. Thought I'd just throw this one out there into the ether. Anyway, [lyrics inside] and, hope you enjoy...
