Flat Fix

January 10, 2007 9:40 PM

This is a tune from a 1995 release called "Samm Bennett's History of the Last Five Minutes", from the Knitting Factory label. The CD is currently out of print. The guitarist is Hahn Rowe, everything else is me. I've been thinking about re-releasing this and possibly my earlier KF CDs on my own label (Yay! Rights have reverted back to yours truly!) but I've got a bunch of new songs I wanna release first. Thought I'd just throw this one out there into the ether. Anyway, [lyrics inside] and, hope you enjoy...

FLAT FIX

flats fixed / knuckles dusted
no one is safe / no one is trusted
jackhammer murder / half a book of matches
gas can evidence / catch as can catches

checks cashed / noses broken
weekly installments / on a subway token
ladies night free / radios stolen
no one is called / no one is chosen

money loaned / maybe thumb break
hobble to the law / they're all on the take
cop shoot donut / billy club bounce
you pay thru the nose / you pay by the ounce

breakfast special / bottle of night train
liver fulla holes / 3 dollar migraine
doctors orders / your money don't talk
coughing up blood / right out on the sidewalk

Thanks, rhapsodie! There's a handful of things (2 or 3 songs and some instrumental stuff, too, available for free download) at the sounds page on my website. I'll probably be putting some more songs up here at MeFi Music, too.

Why, thanky, f_o_f! The sounds are samples, a little bit of synth, some jaw harps and harmonica and, of course, guitar. Recorded at my old home studio in beautiful Ft. Greene, Brooklyn, USA,
