Crossing Over
A short poem spoken with keyboard, percussion, and guitar
Darkness falls in the middle of the day,
We look to the sky and lord we pray,
Darkness grows near,
And all those who are dear,
Floods the lands with tears,
Not a moment to soon,
For all men are destin for doom,
Come cross over, All are welcome
Lambda Loops
This is a song about mushrooms. I think.
brirfar
in where I try and fail to make something along the lines of boards-of-canada or aphex twin's SAW2... but it's still the only tune I've ever completed that I actually like.
Astronomy Domine
Threw a one-off session together years ago, for the fun of it. A friend was in town for a couple of days, and we wanted to do something fun, but easy. We cut the music live, then overdubbed the vocals, & mixed it all in an afternoon. Mark Hallman mixed & played rhythm guitar, & Bradley Kopp played an awesome solo. I'm on bass, as usual, and singing the low harmony, and believe it or not, the "Ahhh, Ahhh" falsetto part. Can't do that anymore. The original song, of course, was written & recorded by Pink Floyd on A Saucerful Of Secrets, and again live on Ummagumma.
Sum Yung Punk
A little adventure into some left-field drum'n'bass. Strangely enough, when this song started out, I intended it to be a little ambient-melodic piece for my four-month old. Pretty early, though, it just screamed out for a beat...
Everyone's Depending on Us
I wanted to end the 23rd Century song posts on an upnote, so here ya go. This is also our Queen tribute, so be ready for my bad Brian May impersonation. Sorry for posting so much, I hope it hasn't been too irritating.
Governmentium
Another track from the new 23rd Century Album, and because you demanded it, one more song after this one.
You can DL the whole album for free from our website.
Working on the Moon
The second to last song I plan to post here, this one was intended to be fun, not work.
Thanks very much for the kind words on the previous songs, everybody!
Played Right ALong
The second song from the new 23rd Century album. This one is written by The Platypus.
Will The Moon Explode Pt 1
The first song off of the new 23rd Century album - "Will The Moon Explode In...The 23rd Century?" The entire album (and our first album, as well) can be downloaded here.
Meat And Crackers
Me on keyboards with Van Winkle (bass, drums, electric guitar)
Purple Dinosaur
Daniel LeClair, a friend of mine, told me how much he adored his 3-year-old kid. How he understood everything the boy spoke, mumbled, shouted or coughed. The only thing he never understood, was how the boy could be in love with that purple dinosaur. I thought there was a song in there.
Recorded with another friend, Uili Damage, who did the production and sang in it. So, I wrote the song, but Uili made it sound as it does here.
Snakey
This is a song I did in 1995 with my band Verge on the album Little Idiot.
This recording is entirely the product of the studio, but we would play it live too. (We'd drag out a lot of gear that would barely function at times to do just that...)
We made this recording in the basement of my loft (at the time, sigh) in Williamsburg sometime between 1993 and 1995, sequencing it on a Mac IIci computer with no sampling or digital audio though we did record onto a digital 8-track tape recorder (remember "tape"?) so the guitar solos and voice and synth and things are pretty well as they occurred.
Like There's No Tomorrow
This is a mid-tempo groovy electronic tune of mine. For fans of Air, Boards of Canada, and any other psychedelic-tinged chill music. Quite good with headphones! [commonly under pseudonym "Stereopattern"]
