peter didn't say anything

little song i wrote a few years back about how i spent the first few hours after 9/11. I was in high school and the scene was fairly surreal there (as I'm sure it was almost everywhere).
the main thing i remember was not being horrified or sad or angry, but utterly numb and at a loss. It wasn't from the shock. I still feel the same way when I think about what happened.

Hey man, your words and music express this really well. Frankly, the end is kinda scary and sad, but of course you know that.
I have an urge to 9/11 (yap) but I won't eff up your post.
Thanks for posting this.

the sky had been emptied out except for clouds
and the sun was painted pale and white with doubt
the classrooms were silent
the hallways were quiet
except a backbeat beaten with your back on a locker wall
you couldn't hear anything at all
and neither could I, so we went outside
peter you didn't say a thing and neither did I
if you can forgive me I will try to forgive you
so I was dating your sister at the time
we couldn't tell who should go and find her
so awkward at times like these
everybody else was just playing dumb
trying to find someone to forgive them
and to forgive
