Some Other Boy/Girl

January 22, 2008 7:38 PM

Wherein I discover you can lyrically abstract and obscurely rearrange an interpersonal situation, but you can't make it blink.

Who are you when I'm not around?
Does someone else make you laugh?
Some other boy, some other girl
you conjure from a photograph?

I hear you through apartment walls
Spirits high as plans proceed apace
with some other boy, some other girl
you'll soon encounter face to face

Our paths will cross now and again
So say odds and probability
and some other boy, some other girl
one day may meet in another reality

I really love the instrumentation and the beats here. The whole production really, except I kind of wish the vocals weren't as heavily treated. But wow, this is good. It's so punchy. I'm a little envious.

I dunno, I like the processing on the vocals. And I like those parts when there are two vocal tracks that aren't quite matching up.

I like the beat, but I kind of wish it was broken up somehow -- a bridge or something. Four minutes is a long time to be this consistent.

I'm also a big fan of punctuation in song titles. Kudos!
