Live Like You Were Dyin'

A slightly uptempo cover of Tim McGraw's hit, recorded sometime in late 2004.

I heard this song at a Chinese restaurant a couple weeks ago and was reminded that I covered it back when it was on the radio a hundred times a day. I think it's a really great song, but Tim McGraw's recording is just abysmal: too slow, too schmaltzy (even for a song like this one), his voice autotuned beyond recognition.

My take on it is lacking in quite a few areas, but I think it's still an improvement on the original; I hope you'll agree.

This song has been criminally overlooked on the site. I might be wrong, but I suspect that putting 'Tim McGraw' in the description in Metafilter Music is a bit like inviting superman to click on a link with [more kryptonite inside].

Their loss. This is great. It would be fun to hear live.

Ha! I had the same thought after I posted it. But then I thought, know what? If people really hate country music that much, let 'em. In any case, thanks for listening, thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it!

I agree with umbĂș completely. Who knew it was a great little tune? Thanks.

Definitely improvement over the original. Sounds a little... I dunno, something about the specific sound of the vocals that sounds like uberpop. I dunno what I'm talking about though.
