bad first song

This my hello world for my new macbook, recorded in GarageBand using the internal mic. It is short and terrible.

Dude -- you'd better hope your boss doesn't find out what you're doing with the office equipment.

Steve Jobs is gonna totally jump on this for the next MacBook ad campaign.

That is, as soon as his ears stop hurting.

I can't tell you how pleased I am that GarageBand has a built in "megaphone" filter. Here's hoping the next release will add "obnoxious screaming" to the palette.

A++ EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED WOULD LISTEN AGAIN

incidentally, you can have some good results with that internal microphone in a pinch (even if you have a cold), or by plugging a good pair of headphones into the microphone jack...

You're just posting this to see if I can come up with a comment, aren't you? I should never have started this project.

Hmm. Well, you used one of my favorite chords -- the iv, or minor subdominant. And you put it in the IV-iv-I progression, a la "In My Life." So, you know, that's something.

Cortex, even when you're just foolin' around, you can't help but show that you have an ear for melody. For this, I hate you.

Seconded.

How accurate is the playcount at the top of this page (and other pages as well)? As I type this, it's got 1 count and seven comments.

I suppose downloads and auditions in playlists are not tallied in these play counts, is this correct?

If I remember right, the hacky way we ended up calculating "plays" via the flash player involved counting the number of times a song creaked past the minute mark -- shorter stints being shrug-and-give-up type stuff.

No idea how playback from playlists aside from this or the front page are calculated.

But since this song is super short, it never crosses that threshold. I think the 1 play must be from someone hitting the direct download link instead of playing it in flash.

I listened twice! And liked it both times.

It's a little known fact that the play counter is programmed to freeze and never go up when people are playing the track too many times, like with all of edlundart's songs.

Hahah, the megaphone effect. This made me laugh.

Oh, sorry, edlundart, I've been downloading your songs and listening to them millions of times in iTunes, in order to avoid overloading the server here. Also, I didn't think anyone ever paid any attention to that counter thing

(no one else from cortex, of course, who is the only one that gets thousands of plays, damn him!)

I'm kinda disappointed. This could have sucked A LOT more. Maybe next time!
