One-track Garageband quick'n'dirty demo. Elliott Smith/Cat Power?

I've been blocked with my songwriting for a couple of years but today I blurted out a few "songs" that felt honest, and this is one of them. I wrote the guitar part a couple of weeks ago and just made up the vocal and random words on the spot. It's just an amorphous improv, but i'm curious what people think of it. I don't know how to get better sound quality out of Garageband, so please don't comment about the poor sound. Oh, and I started fumbling with the guitar picking at the end but i left it in because i think it's kind of endearing :) Oh, and i know that the falsetto bit is a bit off.

i really like the texture of this. the tin-canniness really kinda fits the way your vocals quaver about. sounds nice and desperate. your voice carries it just fine for how simple it is. you should write a song for this sound.

Nicely ethereal. Please post a version with words once you have it.

I think this one has potential, and I look forward to the real lyrics (although I enjoyed the made-up mumbly ones). As I see it, you could either keep this aesthetic -- as es_de_bah says, it fits the wavering vocals and has a lo-fi charm -- or you could flesh things out and make a cleaner, hi-fi recording. Personally I think I'd prefer the former.

Also, I see this is your first post; welcome to MeFi!
