The Up-and-Out

November 5, 2008 11:29 PM

I've had a crumhorn sitting around the studio forever, but I think this is the first time I've actually used it on a track...

This is the last track of my forthcoming CD. Glitch/IDM with a surprisingly Mike Oldfield-esque ending (it surprised me, anyway). And did I mention that there's crumhorn?

The title is a hat-tip to Cordwainer Smith (it's his term for space travel).

Crumhorn! This was great; I was wondering just how dry it was going to be at the beginning, but I warmed up to it a lot as it went on. Nicely epic for a final track.

This is really great! Thanks for mentioning Cordwainer Smith; I like having a context for the title. (And it reminds me to read more of his stories!)

I had never heard of this instrument before, very cool.
