Crazy
December 10, 2008 9:12 PM
A relaxed, front-porch take on the Gnarls Barkley original.
edlundart refused to finish his outstanding cover, so I had no choice but to do something completely inferior in all respects except for the number of verses (all three!). The guitar's pretty weak, but then again I haven't been playing all that long.

Yes! I've been waiting for you to reappear since your Hey Ya cover. Nicely done.

Here's one thought: I almost wish that your version, given it's simplicity, were also the short one, because I find simple songs that are also short often more powerful. But I'm probably in the minority in liking a shortened Crazy.

That was really great. My kind of cover!
And as I do whenever anyone mentions this song, I'll make sure you've seen this theremin cover of the song.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm glad you guys enjoyed this one.
Corduroy: interesting feedback. My favorite "Crazy" performance is the live version from Top of the Pops. That one also runs at a slowish tempo, but they shortened the song to two verses. I'm always left feeling like it wasn't quite enough, but maybe that's just me.
ORthey: I was indeed familiar with the theremin cover. I'm actually in the process of building a theremin from scratch as a hobby project, so I'm looking forward to uploading some absolutely horrid theremin-centric covers when I finally get around to finishing it.

See, my refusal lead to another good MeFi cover! I'll pretend like that was my goal all along.
