Mefi Rock On

February 5, 2009 12:18 AM

MefiMuChallenge submission and my first real attempt at multi tracking vocals.

I got up to 6 vocal tracks before Garageband started getting overworked, doesn't really have a full choir feel, maybe more like a barber shop quartet. For the using-the-instrument-not-as-intended part I took the loose ends of the guitar strings and scratched the mic with em, kinda lame but I wanted to knock out all the challenges in one song.

Yay! There are few things I enjoy more than layering vocals, to the point where I do it more often than I probably should.

The soft low vocal doubling thing makes me think of Elliott Smith; I've always liked that sound, but it's not something I've had much success recording myself.

A lot of good stuff in here. Keep playing with the vocal layers in future recordings, there's a lot of interesting ground to tread there.

Now THAT'S how to hammer out a challenge! The megaphone thingy put it over the top. Right ON!

You're putting everyone to shame with the hat trick, but this is also just a good song.
