Hey man, that guitar is beautiful and I this the best vocal performance I think I've heard you do. I've only heard fado songs a couple of times, and this song REALLY has the feel!

This is very beautiful. The vocals have a distant, eerie feel that I dig.

Beautiful. The vocal recording aesthetic is utterly perfect.

Wow, that's really pretty. Like dobie says, that's a really great aesthetic; great feel.

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting such a good response. I almost didn't post the song because I felt it was too rough. And I might be shooting myself on the foot, but I feel I have to link to the original by Amalia Rodrigues. It's a really, really beautiful song.

Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate them.

One of your best! Vocals are perfect, as everyone has said. What is this song about?

I really like the tone and stereo spread of the two guitars, and how they work together. I like how they are pretty close-miked, but not boomy. And the feel is fabulous--one step towards the feel of Cesaria Evora's band.

That said, I'm going to express the minority view and say that I want more volume and frequency range from the vocals. I like what you did, but it might add to the tune to record a second, doubled vocal and give it a separate frequency range, maybe.

Grief and sorrow. It's woman talking to its heart, saying "what a strange way of living you've chosen, lost, from one person to another. If you do not know where you are going, I won't go with you anymore. Stop beating".

Not really cheerful, I know, but the words are beautifully put together and I really like the melody.

The above was the response to Corduroy.

I made a very stupid mistake. I did like five hundred thousand vocal takes for this one and all were horrendous due to the combination of my bad singing and the terrible quality of the mic. Not one to be deterred by that, I tried to hide the flaws of the vocal take with a lot of reverb and some tweaking of the EQ. In the end I got this take, which I actually did like, but out of inertia I applied all the same effects, and it kinda killed it. Now that I have a better idea of how I should sing it, I think I'm going to do another take and just leave it without so much tampering.
