What Will You Tell Them?

July 22, 2006 6:52 PM

This is one of the first songs I wrote, back in '91, and it is still a personal favourite. It includes my favourite lyric couplet (I won't reveal that little secret unless you get me drunk). This evening's recording has a few warts but I hope you enjoy it. I think I will use this tune as my album's opening track if and when I get my ducks in a row. As ever, feedback is most welcome. That way if I put an album out and it tanks I can blame you! ;-) A text file of the lyric is available here.

Ooh ooh, I bet your favorite is the one with the sacred cow!

(Also, this is good)

I love this song. The lyrics, vocals and much of the picking bring me back to early blues. I know, that's obvious, but, I'm wondering if you have or would consider recording stuff like this with a dirtier sounding guitar like a National or something more jangley. Just curious because I think your picking would sound even more incredible on a looser sounding instrument.

Just an idea. Thank you for the great music.

Mmm, bluesy. Very nice stuff. And I second snsranch—I'd love to hear you picking on a guitar with some jangle. Less Kottke, more Johnson. (Though I do love Leo Kottke. It's just a different sort of love.)
