All Tomorrow's Parties

Quite a few tomorrows later, my August challenge entry.

Better late than never, right? Didn't even get started until mid-September, then had nothing but trouble figuring out new skills & equipment* and getting the voices down. I'd wanted to do a high voice in the second verse and both together in the third, but I couldn't pull it off. Hopefully the end result is OK, but I can see I've got a lot of work ahead if I'm going to pull off an RPM Challenge CD this February.

This is the first time I've programmed drums myself; in the past I've used loops for anything I've done without the band. I'm not really happy with how it turned out, but I was getting bogged down futzing with it so I let it be. If anyone can point me toward some info on programming beats, particularly basic rock styles, I'd really appreciate it. I have a Axiom 25 keyboard and used Ableton Live to do the beats.

Better late than never! I'm glad you followed through putting it together.

RPM challenge going to be a solo, full-production effort this year then?

Yeah, that's the plan. I have an idea for a concept album that I'm fleshing out, and a long list of things I need to improve on in order to make it work. I have a female character I'd like to include so I may ask Yvonne to sing a couple songs, but otherwise it's going to be all me.

I hit the Velvet Underground tag because well... 10/27...

.

and this is the first song that comes up, and that rules.
