Locked in a Garage
July 26, 2006 5:19 PM
Another discarded demo that would otherwise never have seen the light of day.
It's too long, the drum machine is just a placeholder, the guitars are sloppy (DEMO!) and the lyrics are sort of goofy.
Those aren't excuses, they are reasons. It was kind of thrown onto the scrapheap.
But why would I post it? Because I'm addicted to this now.
This one's about a nervous breakdown.

The guitars get a tad tiring as it goes on, but it's a pretty fun song, and I love those background vocals. Some pleasant chord changes in there too. Catchy. I love hearing your stuff.

Wow, this is awesome. Rivals 'In the Rain' as my favorite chococat recording, even if it is only a demo.

You have a sickening knack for pop writing, sir. I may have to harvest your brain.
The phrasing of the final chorus hook feels a little bit clunky, though. The idea of the hook is great, but the line as it lays, "and it seems to me that this is really not what anyone's garage is for", feels like too many words used to fill out the meter.
I say this as someone who has done that a lot. :)

Aw, power pop! I love this sort of thing with the bomp-bomp-bomp beat.

Ok, that was just what I needed to make me go out, sit in garage, and drink beer. In other words, I found it super-ultra-fantastico. Thanks, chococat.

My favorite of your tracks. Damn catchy stuff. Love the way you sing the chorus.
