By god, it's a bluegrass song! Thought of it because of this superlative Williams interpretation.

I was not then (and still am not) nearly so solid a banjist as willc. My fingers are slow, which really puts a damper on that whole Scruggs-style thing. But I had just discovered bluegrass—this was written some time around 2000 or s—and I felt like I ought to give the genre a shot.

It was some time around the line "I have felt shovels / standing up for you" came along that I began to realize I wasn't yet fully conversant in the traditional vocabulary of bluegrass lyrics. Oh well.

And the whole thing is incredibly sloppy and you can really, really tell I didn't use a click track.

I like it, dammit! Don't be telling me it isn't all that good.

Man, I didn't mean to suggest that it was without merit or anything. I just find this a compelling venue in which to complain about the things that are wrong with it. I am pleased as punch that y'all find it entertaining.

I have been doing some more laid-back, plaintive banjo stuff lately, as parts of larger compositions. Some of that might show up eventually.

For someone that is not a "banjist" it seams like you are doing a fantastic job. Well done
