Sing Christmas
December 22, 2009 3:07 AM
A Christmas song written by me and sung by Tay Zonday.
I occasionally write music for an RTE funded Youtube show called Apartment Red. This year they decided to do a Christmas song and roped in Tay Zonday to sing it.
Video here
Music and some lyrics: minfigs
Lyrics: Apartment Red.
This is the first time I've ever tried to mix vocals to anything more complicated than a single guitar track so any tips would be much appreciated.
Happy Christmas MefiMusic!

WOW, this is REALLY GREAT! It's like Vince Clarke-era Depeche Mode Christmas music!

By the way, the audio is way too low on the YT video. You may want to let your people know to re-upload it.

Hey, that's great! Especially with the video. Are you in it?

Thanks for the comments everybody. I didn't get a chance to be in the video unfortunately because they film in Dublin and I live in Cork. I am painfully aware of the volume of the video but the people with access to that are all on holidays, bloody public sector workers.

Your backing music is kind of the same way: It's pleasant, but there's nothing there that hits me as I listen and draws me into a more active listening. There're no hooks of any sort, and you seem to be following a pretty basic progression. For an online Youtube show, the basic progression is probably a good thing, but the lack of hooks you could probably work on.
It's mixed nicely, though. I can make out everything, and his voice is clear throughout.
