Year of Jubilo

This month's challenge isn't much of a challenge for someone who plays oldtime music anyway, but I figure I get extra points for recording this American Civil War era tune on my new gourd banjo.

The mic picked up a bit of foot tapping, which I sort of like. I'm still getting used to the whole fretless thing, not to mention nylon strings, but just about anything you play on one of these sounds great!

I've also seen this tune called 'Kingdom Coming' and 'Lincoln's Gunboats'. It was stuck in my head many times as a kid after watching any of the MGM cartoons featuring Tex Avery's "southern wolf".

I actually think the foot tapping ends up being pretty essential to this tune - really gives it a defined rhythm that sounds great. There is a very summer-y, light feeling to this tune and your playing of it, and it sounds beautiful. I listened to this three times with a glass of wine in hand.

Thanks ORthey! And I should have said, "not much of a change" instead of "not much of a challenge". Didn't mean to sound like a jerk there.

Beautiful tone you get from the instrument. I really like this, well done.
