The Taste of Steel

April 5, 2010 11:52 AM

An adventurous foray into something progressive, something jazzy, and something a little bit mad; kind of like Steely Dan meets Gentle Giant.

INSTRUMENTATION:

Timbill: Drums
Tréteque: Bari Sax
Dextröse: Electric Bass Guitar
Bō: Keyboards/Synth

This reminds me of the sort of stuff Herbie Hancock was doing in the 70's - the "Headhunters" album comes to mind. Actually all this track needs is a vocal from Captain Beefheart and you're home and dry. I take it from this that the Springsteen infatuation was just a kind of ships-in-the-night knee-trembler in a shop doorway kinda thang? Gyrophonia you are, in truth, utterly shameless rock 'n' roll tarts. Fine by me....

As Springsteen was from our very favourite state, I pray that Streets of Philadelphia was a one-off.

Whether Mr Springsteen is from Noo Joisey or Philly is entirely immaterial to the prosecution case - namely that Gyrophonia is (or indeed are) flibbertigibetts of a rock and/or rollish nature. Your witness.
