minnesota pr0n

May 13, 2010 5:47 PM

this started out as a remix of astro zombie's minnesota porn but...

it ended up somewhere else. astro's banjo pickin' is still there though somewhat mangled and forms the basis of the whole thing really.. i've added double bass, loops and a rough lap steel part. it could probably do with more work, but in keeping with the original song's sentiments, i decided to make it in a quick and dirty manner..

I like the rattling wooden percussion sound, it also keeps with the original song's sentiments of quickness and dirtitude. And the double bass is hot! There's a weird cotton eyed joe vibe running thru this whole track. I hope you take that as the supreme complement it is meant to be.

You clever bastard. Now I want to do a minnesota pr0n/Porn mashup.

...and by "do," I mean "hear someone else do."

The bass bow puts me in mind of Karoli's violin work on later Can albums. No higher praise is available at this time. Sweet!

thanks. i must add my thanks (and possibly apologies) to astro zombie too, without whom...

that percussion is one of garageband's 'ethnic' loops, some of which are quite nice. and there's no bowing on it...or at least i don't think there is!

It's amazing. I love seeing what people can do with snippets of songs. Here's the page where we are housing it.

The beat reminds my of the Vogel remix of Myxomatosis from Com Lag. Good work!
