Son of My Father

This is a cover of the pop hit that was #1 on my birthday - for the MeFi Music Challenge.
I took some of the cheese out, and replaced it with drunken yard-party sloppiness. Please enjoy responsibly.
Here's the original, so that you may be suitably galled by the lead singer's hair.

Yup, that's my banjo doing it's thing during the break(down).
I am no kind of sound engineer*, but I got the guitar tones by recording my acoustic with a condenser mic and adding a touch of overdrive after the fact. This applies to both the 'lead' and rhythm bits. The bass is acoustic too, though was recorded off its pre-amp.
Thanks for commenting!
*I have an ever-growing respect for anyone who is a pro at this stuff. The more I try my hand at it the more I realise just how nuanced and difficult an art it is.

Corduroy speaks truth; your cover matches the video a lot better than the original recording.
I do like what the guitar lick does to the song, taking it from cheesy studio song to something real sounding.

Thanks FC.
When I decided to cover this song, I knew I had to do something with that silly Moog riff - I'm glad to hear my solution is working for somebody.
