Easy (If It Wasn't So Hard)

I write a dumb song in a day about once a month for my dumb blog (not a songwriter; not a musician; sometimes singer).

This particular song had the following requirements: a) background singers, b) a cheesy 80s vibe, c) "island" influence of some sort, and d) profound-sounding lyrics. I think it fits the summersong bill as well -- you know, walking on the boardwalk, soaking up the sun, hating your girlfriend...

You have a really lovely voice, and I'm a sucker for that I-iii (I think that's what it is) change that kicks of the verse. For the true 80s vibe you need a bit more cheap reverb on everything, gated on the drums of course, and some chorus/flange on the Rhodes, but I'm quibbling.

But you do have a great pop voice. Really great.

Also, your blog concept is sheer genius. I love/hate WB and JB equally.

Aw, this is nice. I like your playful use of the stereo field and those background vox knock me out. In the video, you're on a beach!

I like songs with requirements. How are they determined?

Please post more songs here.

thanks a lot! i had fun with the background vocals. backgrounds are the best: one take + one take + one take and it all just gets better as you add them together.

I conjure up my requirements on my aforementioned dumb blog: the brothers buffett -- put simply, they're inspired by the latest four Jimmy Buffett albums I have reviewed (and to lesser extent by the latest four Warren Buffett letters I've read).
