In the Constellation of the Pines

Revenge and ukulele.

lyrics:
In the constellation of the pines
You check your satchel, check your stash
In the constellation of the pines
Brought your whiskey, brought their cash

Your hair is gray
Your heart is brown
Your house is burned
You're shunned from town.

In the constellation of the pines
As your plot your revenge
In the constellation of the pines
As your blade you whet

Oh you of the town
You will get yours yet
Oh you of the town
You will get yours yet.

I like the way you've made those ukes not sound like ukes (if that makes sense...). Plucking rather than strumming brings out a more lyrical, almost harp-like quality. I like the "immediate" recording too. There are one or two minor hiccups in the playing (which you're no doubt are aware of), but that's just being picky. A very nice job.

This was the first song I ever recorded on uke, about a year ago. I'd had the thing about a week, so that explains the rawness. I think, for me, the rawness adds to the theme of the whole thing. Thanks so much for the compliment!

Plucking rather than strumming... Yea, what the Major says, totally. Playing it that way adds a depth that strumming just won't do (especially on a uke). So, that and the somewhat subdued vocals, makes this dramatic and easy to get pulled into. Very cool and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.

This was really lovely, thanks. Exactly the right length for what it was, and the simple arrangement with the doubling and the extra vocals is pretty much perfect.

I've been listening to your songs over the last couple of days -- this is another nice one. Something about the way the vocal is recorded and performed reminds me slightly of Anders Parker/Varnaline. Very nice stuff, and your lyrics are interesting as well.
