In a genuine coup for me, R Dean Taylor has commented thus: "This is so scary that I had to leave the room almost immediately. What really spooked me was the sub-Iggy Pop vocalisation, the tinny drums, the synthy bass thingy and the ghastly, muddy mix. That really made me almost shit blue bricks. Whew! Major Dundee - a name to watch out for, and I certainly will (Is that ok MD? Please send my fee at once)"

Woops - should have edited the last bit of that. Shit.

Yeah, I like this. :)

This kicks ass and I hope you advised Taylor that he could go eat a bowl of dicks. I don't know if it was intended, but this isn't a bad song to dance to, which makes this a great spooky themed party song. Diggin' it.

Thanks maia and sns! I really just threw this together in a fairly loose and relaxed way. When I realised that that loooooow vocal might actually work on this one, that dictated the rest of it. I had to keep the track very, very basic because it's quite difficult to get a low vocal like that to sit in a mix - lots of embroidery and twiddly bits would swamp it. And if you think you can just push the faders up - doesn't work and the vocal very quickly sounds wrong. Having said that, I may do a remix over the next few days and just see what the cat drags in. Thanks again for your ever-supportive comments - appreciate it. (I'm beginning to wonder whether I should take this approach more often - the tracks I agonise over rarely get as good a response as the ones I just knock out in a few hours....)

Man, the low vocal is GREAT. I can't really speak to the idea of changing your approach, though. I think you were here a while back when there was a discussion about listing the number of times a song has been clicked on/listened to. That's gone now, but it was a great way to know if a song just sucked or wasn't liked as opposed to it just sailing away and off from the radar. We'll just never know!

R Dean Taylor didn't even write that song, man. I wonder what he said to Mark E Smith.

Anyway, this is awesome. I will be listening to it over and over again.

....not quite sure whether people are getting the joke here or not..... I don't know whether R Dean Taylor is still around, but I certainly haven't been in touch with him. Wouldn't know how, or want to. He'd probably hate this and the "Guest In My Hose" remix anyway. His version remains definitive - I'm just fooling around with this one.

Good. Heh. You really scared me.

Whatever. No-one's forcing you to listen mate, let alone making smartarse comments/favourites.

Er.

See, you've got me not knowing what's a joke and what's not. Uh – this time I was joking, 'you scared me,' as in 'ha ha, Halloween, frightening, ghost,' goddamn that's a stupid joke now that I look at it.

I really do like this song. It's really great, and I wish I could do something half as good. No joke there. I think the vocal is awesome, too. Srsly. I consistently admire your contributions here, MajorDundee, but this one I not only admired but really loved listening to.

Gah, I fail at this. Sorry if I've caused offense. No smartarseness though, I promise. I just liked it.

Oh dear. I think it's me that should do the apologising koeselitz. I'm a bit wary of MeFi sometimes - particularly the Blue - because there seems to be a kind of "in crowd" that pounces on the unwary and basically takes the piss. And I guess because you haven't commented on my stuff before (at least not that I remember) and were "favouriting" some of the comments on this post - which is unusual - I suddenly thought "this guy's one of those oh-so-cool smartarses from the Blue and a bit of a c*nt". Wrong. Sorry mate. I'm rather embarrassed now!
