That They May Face The Rising Sun (Camp Hope) - Rescue Mix
October 14, 2010 1:41 PM
For the Chilean miners. Original idea was that unSane would do drums and Orthey handle vocals. Then, in a stroke of stupifying idiocy, I wiped the multitrack. Finito. So this version is a "rescue mix" in more than one way - it's a cdr rip of the WIP I wiped (heh) with some percussion grafted onto it. Not as it should have been, but it's a good track (imho) and, well, this is better than nothing. Viva Chile!!

Haven't heard of the song or of Lee Greenwood sns, and after your description I don't think I want to. Becoming an honourary US citizen would, of course, be a total blast and an honour! Naturally my acceptance would be conditional upon "honourary" being spelt correctly...... ;-))

This has been one of my recent favorites here, but I never commented on the first version because I was too busy thinking about how sweet the drums would be. Upon second listen, I forgot the first version was sans percussion, since the groove had been so solidly spelt out and sounded so familiar. A perfect fit to a real anthem.

Solid. Again. Borderline impeccable. Geez, Major. Every time I hear your stuff I get the feeling that you are an ultra famous guitarist in the UK who created the MajorDundee account to escape from his regular, rockstar life. If this is something that everyone else here knows and no one talks about, I'm sorry for bringing it up "out loud", but that was about the only way I could figure out to say that your stuff sounds very professional and well rounded. Solid. Borderline impeccable. Geez, Major.

Thanks for you kind words mica. One or two others have directly or indirectly raised that question. I think that if I deny or confirm that I have associations with "name" bands (not necessarily UK-based) I won't be believed either way. So I'll say nothing. And, hey, it's kind of immaterial really - on MeFiMu we take as we find huh?

As an aside, would you consider becoming an honorary US citizen for a few weeks so that you can write and record a song to replace the damn Lee Greenwood "God bless the USA" thing? Being in the Isles, you may not have heard it. But it's played so often here at sporting events and whatnot, that it may well be the thing that drove the US crazy.
Oh, sorry for the derail, and here's me toasting you and the now saved miners and their rescuers!
