Skater Girl

A song about a skater girl told through the medium of barely understood skating metaphors

I write novelty songs for a tween show here in Ireland and it takes up pretty much all of my songwriting time these days. The versions that actually make it to air are re-recorded with the presenter's voices but I thought it'd be nice to have my versions somewhere public.

My heart, it did a heelflip
When you came up to me
My stomach did a frontside indy
360 degrees
I ollied once and you nollied back
and my feelings grabbed some air
I like the way that backwards
baseball cap frames your hair

My skater girl
Never bail on me
My skater girl
You make me feel goofy
My skater girl
I feel regular with you
My skater girl
I love you

My brain begins to grind whenever
You’re not around
And my spirits do an airwalk grab
When I hear the sound
of your voice! It’s like the sickest
Method air grab ever seen
And I fell like I’m the
Luckiest ever human being

My skater girl
Let’s go to Japan
My skater girl
Let’s stick it to the man
Because skateboarding is not a crime
And neither is our love
I feel like Tony Hawk
Has blessed us from above
My skater girl.

This is front-side rail grind for like miles! (And it's cute too!)

This made me giggle - it's totally cute. I really like that piano 'interlude', too.
