Crab, Why Do You Smoke?

December 1, 2010 7:44 PM

A short thrash/death tune about a crab's habit.

Another song I did for my Hometaping album.

Lyrics:

You are a crab
Why do you smoke?

You are a crab
Why do you smoke?
Flavor Country
Hates all crabs
Crustacean
Confusing

Just because you're a crab
Doesn't mean there's no cost
For example, cigarettes
Are six bucks a pack
Furthermore, you're cold-blooded
Would you know if you caught fire?
Worst of all is your attitude

You're a crab
Why do you smoke?

Now THIS is how you do crabcore. Not this junk.

I was so utterly puzzled by that business! And really, melodic metalcore overall.

...

I may have to write a crabcore piece now. Wow.

You're a crab.
Why do you smoke?

Something about those two lines... beautiful.

With some judicious syllable-stretching and some tweaking, we get a profound version of Metallica's "Blackened":

Opposition
Contradiction
Crustacean
Compromise

Agitation
Violation
Flavor country
Hates all crabs

You're a crab
Why do you smoke?

See our mother die

In other news, it's late and I have an active imagination.

Whoa, Da Vinci code'd!

Oddly enough, I was pretty obsessed with the harmony-tastic bridge kicked off by "see our mother die" in Blackened in high school. So much so that when talking about Justice, when I'd start to talk about Blackened, my friends would go, "Yeah, yeah, we know. See our mother die." That Timecube guy probably has good explanation for this connection.

And thanks, guys! Glad you enjoyed the crab scolding.

I think the crab deserves a rebuttal.
