Save This Song For Me

February 13, 2011 7:00 PM

This started as a waltzy uke crooner but grew a bit bigger. I love the old-timey sound. If only I could add parade instruments.

Lyrics:

Save this song for me
When I get old again
The memory of Denver
In stone and sun
The strange yellow summers
We all had our fun
Don't let it fade away

Once you had raven hair
And scratched me when I was sad
A comfort of red lines
There's no going back
Feelin' like so fine
There's no going back
Don't let it fade away

What did
You say
Again (2X)

What did you say again?
I don't remember when
Last time we saw
Lyons Pinball
The Flat Iron Canyon
A-bove it all
Don't let it fade away.

This is a really cool sound. The almost-weird-tape-edit-into-psychedelic-break is particularly interesting, given the sort of old-timey context surrounding it.

I love this, the "almost-weird-tape-edit-into psychadelic-break" is really awesome. Fits in a way I wouldn't have guessed. I can see a whole song being inspired by that effect.
