Hawkeye Pierce

April 8, 2011 10:40 AM

Ol' Hawkeye used to be my idol; now he is not.

When I was a kid I LOVED M.A.S.H. 4077, to an almost unhealthy degree. I thought Hawkeye Pierce in particular was the epitome of cool - smart, clever, irreverent, in charge, &c...When I grew up, however, I realized that he was sort of a trust-fund douchebag.

Anyway, I wrote this song about it. It's still in the 'rough demo' stage, sorry, but I thought you all might enjoy it anyway, and maybe give some mixing advice. Thanks in advance.

This is so great.
I have no suggestions at all.
I don't even mind the squeeky chair or whatever those background noises are at around 2.25.
Just a great sense of mood all around and an especially wonderful harmony-charged chorus.
Ha I think I hear your nose whistling at the end I TOTALLY DO THAT TOO

Beautiful song, Pecinpah and I LOVE what you're doing with the rhythm guitar.

Sort of complicated syncopated stuff with the guitars and the drums really works for me.

Overall the whole track in nice; for druthers I feel like the lead guitar sounds spacier during the break in the middle than it needs too, maybe just too much verb or delay muddying up what could instead pop out a little more as a front-and-center solo section. Also your vox get a little bit lost in the mix in a few spots, which is just a bummer for trying to track lyrics.

But for a rough demo it doesn't feel particularly rough at all. Really nice work.
