At first I thought "how come I've never heard this Magnetic Fields song??", and then it really develops it's own charm. I listened to "The Final World" on the website you linked to and I like that tune even more than this one, you should post that as well!

Welcome to MeFi Music (I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately, which is exciting)!

Wow, this is pretty great. The recorder (synth?) sounds are cool. I really like the "oh-oh-ohohoh" refrain, too.

The cassette/USB thing is crazy boss.

I would like to hear more about how you're using that reel-to-reel.

Thanks for the awesome compliments!

I hadn't considered the magnetic fields comparison, but it makes sense with the low voice and cute synth of the intro.

The reel-to-reel I am using as an effect to warm a track up, which is sometimes useful since I'm recording on a computer. It is a 4-head reel to reel which means it can record and playback in one pass. I am just passing it briefly over tape before recording it to a new track on the computer all in one pass. There might be a slight delay introduced, but the tapified track does stay in sync throughout the song. As opposed to if you recorded to tape in one pass, then recorded back to computer in a second pass, in which case small variations in reel speed add up over the length of the song making it out of sync by the end of the song.
