The Jealous Kind

This is a rocked up cover of a Chris Knight song that we fell in love with a while back.

We started including it in our sets regularly and it eventually became the third track of our new album.

It's a great song for opening a set with except for that first line - "I got a letter from Maria, you know her English ain't that good..." I always just want to reassure folks "No really, it's ok, he loves her!"

Wow, I absolutely adore this.

I've always been a sucker for country-tinged rock (Jason & the Scorchers, Gram Parsons, Steve Earle) and this hits all the buttons. Beautiful pedal steel playing and an absolutely hellacious guitar solo. Guy deserves some kind of medal for that. The moment where the band kicks in is so great I had to go listen to it again.

I think you get that the perspective of the song is not that of a guy who has had much exposure to political correctness.

Also, I have to go learn this song now.

Thanks unSane! That awesome guitar solo is our good friend Danny Ott, who was just on Dave Alvin's last album and toured with Chris Gaffney for years. He's an amazing guy and he constantly blows me away with his playing, which is why we love getting him in the recording studio whenever possible!
