Buford Highway

January 18, 2012 11:34 AM

A track from my 2005 EP on Fabrice Lig's Melodika label. Blues-influenced techno.

This is one of my favorite tracks written when I was living in Atlanta. I was struck by one particular stretch of road called Buford Highway that runs North out of the city. Buford is a five-lane car pipe lined with cheap apartments and strip malls bursting with ethnic restaurants. Crosswalks are few and far between (with pedestrian fatalities all too common), and the Georgia pine forest encroaches on both sides. It's a sprawling artifact designed solely for the movement cars, with little regard for the people who live near it.
