Recorded in November, after a summer reading Peter Guralnick's awesome two-part biography, Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love.

(When I first saw the song title on my sidebar notifications, I wondered if maybe you were posting a Ray Charles cover.)

Oh, and is that a button accordion?
It's a melodica!
Thanks, flapjax.

guitar sounds lovely, bass is perfectly placed, and seconding the appreciation of the harmonies. well done, indeed.

This was a songfight entry wasn't it? I remember listening to it at the back end of last year. Still sounds lovely. The stops and the very subtle major-minor chord change are great, and the swung 6/8 feel is terrifc - very subtle.
I assumed this was about Michael Jackson when I first heard it -- I think it was not long after he died.
Also - the melodica - I'm so shit at harmonica that I just put in an order for one too.

Loving this. And your inspiration. Two of my favourite books. Really like the melodica.

Oh, and is that a button accordion? Whatever it is, sounds great: a wonderful addition to the tune.
