Hate That Train That Carried My Girl From Town

Here's the SMOKE BENDERS, live in Toyama, Japan, from March 2012. The sound is a little gymnasium-y, due to the fact that the gig was in a gymnasium. I'm on electric talking drum for this one. Video here.

Thanks so much chococat. Although it pains me to note that your comment should read "you went in" rather than "you're going in", cause it looks like the band is kaput. Some stupid psychological bullshit went down, and... I dunno, I think the unit is dead, sad to say. Might still be working with drummer Naoya Numa from time to time, but unless a certain other member comes around and grows up a little bit, it's the end of the trio. Total bummer, but... whaddayagunnado? People can get weird on you.

No!
Oh, that's too bad. The tuba-as-bass was a really great feel and there was certainly a chemistry there.
I hear you about bad dynamics, though, bandmate-wise. Hopefully you can salvage something with Mr. Numa because I quite enjoyed how you played together.

This is great dude, love the rhythms. Even the gymnasium-y sound sounds good ffs! (how do you do it?!)
Also, Electric Talking Drum sounds like a great name for a track or album. Got any pics of said instrument?

Thanks for your comment, marienbad!

The drum itself is nothing special, just a REMO brand talking drum. The "electric" part is just that I've attched a contact mic to it, which I run through EQ, distortion and a cheap pitch shifter. In the clip you can see a little bit of red tape on the drum head: the piezo pickup is under that.
Here's a picture of the drum. Here's the pitch shifter.

Great photstream mate, some cool stuff:
Korg Wave Drum
Cheap Organ
Columbia Record Player - as I have been a vinyl and turntable lover since I was a little boy, I love this.
Tambourine - so cool.
