White Geese

For another MFA class we were meant to come up with a creative response to Judy Grahn's poem A Woman Is Talking To Death. Also I'm trying to process changes in relationships. Two birds, one stone, and one very sore dry throat.

Lyrics by Judy Grahn and me
Music by me - no Apple Loops this time!

I like the catchiness of the "oooh"-parts, and the percussion, which sounds like real hands on some kind of physical surface, like maybe a guitar (not the strings) or a piano (not the keys).

If you want any "constructive criticism," (if you don't, ignore this!) the piano seems too quantized/mechanical in my opinion, and could use some dynamic variation (ie, different velocities, etc). I would also play with adding some delay, or possibly other effects, to those "oooh" vocal parts. I think it could push them more in the direction of being an instrument, as a compliment to your voice in the other parts. Obviously this is subjective feedback and may be utter nonsense.

Haha that's fine. All I had to work with was garageband's keyboard typing and it was all quantized loops, so I could totally see why you'd say that!

The sound level is really low, but this is a sweet sincere composition.
