Dirty Deeds (Done at Market Rate)

I've always thought it'd be extra cool to make a collaborative album like the Postal Service- the band, not the government entity- except, instead of snail-mailing recordings back and forth, you could just trade mixdown mp3s via email. This is a track I can't seem to come up with a vocal melody for. Any takers?

On a whim, I just clicked the "collaboration" tag I'd assigned to this post... and, well, I guess I'm not the first one to think online collab is an "extra cool" idea. Heh...

I love this track...it has a great "body" so to speak. Do you have any idea. thought, theme or sentiment that you would like to be expressed in the lyrics?

Really bright and blood-rushing sound right off the bat! well done! It even has a little bit of a Stereolab thing happening, which I appreciate very much!

Funny that you say that. When I try to envision possible lyrical cadences for the song, Laetitia Sadier's voice is always the one I hear ooh-ing and aah-ing in the backround. Thanks for the kind words!

snsranch- I've always had a soft spot for self-consciously inscrutable, stream-of-consciousness lyrics (see Pavement, Lambchop, Throwing Muses)- the kinds of songs that bubble over with catchy turns of phrase, but may or may not actually be about anything. I'm not sure why these songs resonate with me- maybe it's got something to do with Jungian archetypes or something, or maybe they just sound cool. The subject matter of the lyrics is less important than the successful reiteration of the words one extracts from one's ass.

(Upon proofreading, it occurs to me that the last sentence sort of illustrates my point. It probably won't make a lot of sense to those who aren't me, but it sounds cool, right?)

I doubt I've achieved my goal of answering your question, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Oh, I get it! Good show. I'm going to have some fun with it this weekend. If anything comes of it I'll memail you.

Ugh ... that channel mix for the drums at the beginning is cute but needs to go.

You did a great job doing the mix, nice sense of space, good balance between the instruments.

Seems like you are re-balancing the instrument channels mid song though, stop that, don't shift channels (like @ 2:23, yeah that bass, it was perfect before you started to fuck with it, you know what I am talking about).

There are a few instances of your instruments switching sides mid-song, don't do that!
