Someone Keeps Moving My chair

Mr. Horrible, Mr. Horrible.

After lots of noodling with slowed down Linnel vocals and lownote's awesome rhythm tracking, and Ableton Live and Garageband and Dropbox and tracking and tracking and Martin Denny and tracking we are proud to present our entry to Metafilter's 25th Anniversary version of They Might Be Giant's Flood!

Ha, excellent. I feel like Megan Draper should maybe be doing a dance to this.

Well that's lovely.
Particularly digging the mondo exoctica Denny vibe.

Great job in thinking outside of the box and the execution of it. This works surprisingly well as an instrumental, especially the particular lazy exotica lounge cocktail genre you assigned it. The chorus is foreboding, disorienting, and hesitant, like you are planning to sit down but unsure if the chair will be there or not. You also pace the building of this tension very well, especially with the matching higher-octave notes that come in later.

Yeah I dont think I ever mentioned to @brainy that the high pitched sustained guitar notes are really fantastic and just hit me in the best way

Loooove the exotica approach. I don't think it would ever had occurred to me, but now that I hear it feels obvious.

Now I'm off to listen to my Combustible Edison and Ultra-Lounge albums all day.

I was eagerly anticipating this song. Someone Keeps Moving My Chair is my least favorite song on Flood, and I couldn't stop wondering if I would enjoy its cover. And then, this. You know, I can't ever dislike lounge/exotica. You have made a cover I had no choice but to enjoy. Very well done!

Loving the soft percussion. Needs the flood tag!

The percussion is all lownote. it's so perfect, the shakers and...bongos? He also did the bass, which I almost wish there was more of.

What a great take on this. The chorus tries to slow my brain down. Heh.
Welcome to the TMBG Trance Lounge - no, don't sit down.

Yeah, the surf vibe feels great to me too. I wasn't familiar with the original, also amazing, but I really like the direction you took this in. Great job, all of you!

Just listened to this again and was blown away as to how unexpected and refreshing this is. So much more suited for the summer than a cold January.
