The door to Linda's room was ajar, and a foul black liquid seeped through the gap, seeming to pulse in time to the steady thump of the band in the bar downstairs. I steadied myself against the wall, wishing I had a weapon, and slowly pushed the door open."

Hell, I'd encourage abuse of these controls. The kind of real-time knob-twisting weirdness available on those old digitech units is sadly missing from most delays these days.
