Ducks on the Pond

July 14, 2015 8:14 PM

A solo clawhammer banjo recording of a traditional old-time tune.

I haven't been playing much clawhammer at all lately, so pardon the rust... but this has been on my list forever. I half-learned it a few years back and finally decided I had to work on it tonight because I also recorded some video of what's become an annual tradition, herding young ducks off the pond by canoe in the evening. They eventually learn that they're supposed to come in, but it can take a few nights.

(Video of actual ducks on the pond with banjo soundtrack here.)

Great job! I always love listening to old American music like this because the link to Irish traditional music is so easy to hear. I'm not sure why that's a comforting thing but it is.
