Pick An Animal

My entry for this week's Song Fight!

The title prompt was, obviously, "Pick An Animal," and my initial inclination to do a sort of happy, poppy animal-themed Sophie's Choice seemed rather tasteless so I ended up with a dopey Noah's Ark kind of deal.
A bit rushed and crappy in the mixing department but it was a quick turnaround.

lyrics:
Shem says we have to leave real soon
If we're going to beat this tide
Looks like you just can't bring them all
There's only room for one inside

Here's your opportunity to save it
Doesn't have to be your favourite
So narrow down your list until it's one
A single one

Just pick an animal you like
Or maybe one that's real unique
Might not look like much to you now
But really soon it will be an antique

Here's your opportunity to save it
Doesn't have to be your favourite
So narrow down your list until it's one
A single one

Your choice should have some skills on which it can rely
(hope that it can fly)
A good floater might be wise
Or one that can stay dry
Or one that won't die

Here's your opportunity to save it
Doesn't have to be your favourite
So narrow down your list until it's one
So narrow down your list until it's one

Superb! I'm a huge, huge power pop fan and this is so wonderful. Reminds me of Greg Pope/XTC kinda....but still has your unique stamp.

Really impressive songwriting and the lyrics are the cherry on top.

Songfight! It makes me so happy that it is still going. That's how I ended up getting involved with MC Frontalot.

Great song! Great vocals, great production, great melody, great everything. Have you ever done a Songfight! Live?

Thanks grumpybear69!
Never done one live, they don't seem to get up to Toronto. Looks fun though.

Oh, this is just fun. Blissful writing, performance, and arrangement. Reminds me of the best stuff from Michael Penn, strong and bright and embroidered just enough. Really enjoyable.
