Optimist (Acoustic Demo)

First demo for RPM2016. 9 songs to go!

Just to get this idea down today. In my head I hear this with loud, dirty, twangy, reverby guitars and layers upon layers of stuff.

You choose chords real sweet. I love how it opens up with the harmonies at the 1:00 mark. And the contrast between the content of the lyrics and the mood of the song. Reminds me in a few places of The Beatles' "I'll Be Back".

Excellent lilting smoky island/latin feel. Ringing and warm harmony writing too.

I can't place why, but somehow it feels like a song for when the bombs are released overhead and you're just like 'OK, so that's happening.'

Hearing a dash of Michael Penn in it, both in the writing and the singing. Which is a very good thing.

A great start for RPM!

Beautiful. It works really well as a lo-fi (relative to your other songs, that is...) song with a really easy, unpracticed guitar playing sound, but I also can easily see this with reverbed out guitars. But I love the space in this version.

This is good as hell. Maybe it's because of the name but I hear some Radiohead in the timbre and some bits of melody and harmony.
